Review:

The Thinkscan SD6 allows for selection of several additional services, which I also performed while sitting in my house. Once the SD6 was updated and registered, I ran several initial tests with my BMW X5. Once connected to the OBDII port, SD6 automatically determined my car. I ran diagnostics which “talked” to every computer in the car and displayed status. (photo shown). Other capabilities include various resets and registrations. I did not have any of those to perform at the moment, but I did test the ABS/DSC cycling for brake bleed, and it worked perfectly, just like the factory technician software would perform.

The SD6 also provides the ability to read various sensors real time. I tested this by reading fuel pump voltage and amperage (seen in the last photo), while the vehicle was running.

Given the cost of diagnostics at many shops (electrical hooking) rivals the cost of the SD6, this seems like a no brainer purchase. Even if not a mechanic or hobbyist, this diagnostic tool can give some basic insights to issues that a vehicle may have – well worth it!
