Question 1:
Hi, my clone Tech 2 works well but keeps beeping and showing an ‘establishing communication” message every 20 secs or so.
It then carries on working where it left off. It is really irritating and worrying if programming. It does this on my 9000 (no CANDI & using a v.44 card) and also on my brother’s 9-3 (CANDI & using a v.148 card).
I once saw a guide on how to repair a tech 2 but can’t find it any more. Grateful for any help since I need to sort out a Check Engine light and the Tech 2 stopping working every 20 secs is getting really difficult!
Answer 1:
I had similar problem I remove the VCI cleaned the connector and it solved the problem.
Fixed! Turns out to be a bad VCI unit. Replaced it with another clone VCI unit and all working fine now.
Question 2:
Hi,Im trying to programming a vectra c to enable some functions as fuel consumption or consumption average.
I have my tech2 clone connected to CANdi and CANdi to DLC port.I do 2 tests for CANdi and all are passed.
But when i programming then it gives me a error. CANdi interface is not present.
1.- Genuine Tech2 and my clone Candi. It works fine!
2.- My clone Tech2 and genuine Candi. I get error.
What could be the problem?
Answer 2:
After check the main cable i can say it is not the problem. I put a genuine memory card and it works perfect.
Solved. After write the newest software in the same card it works fine.
Question3: Tech2 won’t connect with CANDI module?
I believe it’s a quite common issue on Clone Tech2 Scanner. I was bothered by this for quite some time, until I found the real problem.
Without candi, most Tech2 work fine.
Once used on CANDI cars, they appear to be difficult to connect. When new, it’s much easier to be connected. Then turned to be more and more difficult. Sometimes almost 1 successful connection out of 30 tries. You have to power off and on again and again, till the post screen.
Answer 3:
There’s one way to judge if it’s actually connect by listening to the candi.
When you power on,The correct sounds you should hear is 1 beep after power on from T2, then 1 tiny click sound from candi. That’s all. If you hear extra 2 tiny clicks afterward. Candi fails to connect. You can power off and on again, until you only hear 1 click from candi.
Answer 3-2:
I thought it’s just problem with candi, as when using on other cars without candi, it’s just perfect. So I bought another candi. It’s just better, but still needs to connect a few times. So I bought another card 148. Just better, not totally solved.
Until finally I rewrite the card to 143 and 136. Both work fine. So, Saab V148 card is no good for candi. But I realize you are using 143 already, so I suggest you to rewrite it or buy a new card. Could be corrupted software, or the card problem. These cards coming together with Tech 2 are not good. They are MLC Strata flash cards, which I’m not so sure if it’s actual linear.
